Massive Digital Ceiling Clock
May 31, 2008
I know it is Friday and all, but somehow this Massive Digital Ceiling Clock is one way your boss pressurizes you to complete up your work before the weekend rolls around. Definitely a bane to clock watchers, but for those who go about their duties with a joyful heart won’t matter - after all, the more lighting in the room, the superior! I would think that the shifting light every minute can end up being pretty distracting though.

Bento: beautiful in design and easy to use
May 31, 2008
Like many small business owners, RealSimple’s Erin knew that “databases can simplify life and work, but until now, I’ve never been able to design them myself.” Until she began using Bento, that’s. “Bento looks, feels and works like other Mac applications. Organizing your information into collections in Bento is much like organizing songs in iTunes,” she writes. It’s “just another reason to consider a Mac.” Via [apple]

Filed under: Analysis / View, Gaming, Software, iPhone
Oh my. Still need convincing that the iPhone/iPod touch is the greatest gaming platform ever made? Then check this video of a couple Japanese researchers playing a game they claim to have put together “in about an hour”: multiscreen, touch-based Pong.
On first glance, it looks like the game is even checking orientation of the iPods, but if you watch it a tiny further, when things go faster, you can see that it’s actually just pushing the ball from screen… Continue reading

Sony Ericsson Goes Wii-Style
May 31, 2008
Sony Ericsson could actually be plotting to take over the Nintendo Wii’s role - at least in the realm of cell phones. It will be preparing itself for this role by turning the cell phone’s camera into a motion-controlling sensor after inking a deal with GestureTek of California which will see the latter’s software available in Sony Ericsson handsets later this September. If the name GestureTek rings a bell, that’s because it is the similar technology used in Sony’s EyeToy device for the PS2. Which is… Continue reading

They recently ported their mobile Raging Thunder racing game to the iPhone and released it as a free beta to the jailbreak community. (It’s hosted at the Huge Boss repository.) Built around the iPhone’s accelerometer, Raging Thunder really expresses the fun, interactive potential of the iPhone… Continue reading

In fact, she found it “a stellar system from the start.” Naming it “our new Editors’ Choice,” she gave it a 4.5 star rating (out of five). Via [apple]
EDGE and 3G and tripping down memory lane

My relationship with my iPhone hasn’t been an simple one. On the one hand, it’s an totally brilliant platform — I just love programming for it. On the other hand it’s a money hole. To keep it legit, I’m forking over a wad of cash each month to AT&T and from there on to Apple (not to mention the $99/year new iPhone play tax). One of my biggest decisions on that end involved giving up my data plan. Leaving the… Continue reading
Cobalt Concept
May 30, 2008
The Cobalt concept is definitely interesting, bringing us back to the days where real gentlemen roamed the streets complete in their ensemble of monocles, top hats and walking sticks. This unique device might look like a museum relic from the outside, but opening it will reveal an OLED touch screen display, where a simple flick of the thumb will be able to access the current time, temperature, voicemail, email and even text. Hopefully this will come with Bluetooth connectivity so that data can be streamed over painlessly without having to… Continue reading
