RAmos Mumu Goes Pink
August 6, 2008
RAmos’ latest Mumu portable media player (PMP) is now available in bright pink color, and takes on Apple’s naming convention by calling it the iPearl. There is no word on the specifications on an official basis, but hopefully it performs as bright as it looks. Would you consider purchasing a pink-colored PMP if you’re a female, or do you find these specifically female-centric devices a turn-off instead?

Electronic Tongue Developed
August 6, 2008

The tongue is one of the most essential muscles in our body, as it helps us communicate and lets us know whether your mother-in-law’s cooking is up to par with food you grew up with at home. Scientists have managed to develop an electronic tongue in the form of a handheld device, capable of telling the differences between various wines thanks to half a dozen sensors that measure levels of acid, sugar and alcohol - all without running the danger of a machine “getting drunk”. I’d rather… Continue reading
PC Crammed Into Toaster
August 5, 2008

This is one hot computer for a simple reason - it has been crammed inside the case of a toaster. Yes, an ordinary toaster that belongs in the dining room or kitchen instead of the living room. Unfortunately, once a computer is up and running within, it will lose all ability to churn out perfectly toasted slices of bread for your morning breakfasts - but at least you get to have a crack at your favorite games and programs. Some of the hardware inside… Continue reading

Guess Nintendo doesn’t have a monopoly any more when it comes to the Wii Balance Board, thanks to the efforts of accessory manufacturer Njoy and their own take, resulting in the Njoy Balance Board. This peripheral will be released on September 12th in the UK, retailing for a surprisingly expensive
Hard Drive Platter Clock
August 4, 2008

Ian Matthew has put his genius to work by coming up with a hard drive platter clock, where a set of flashing colored LEDs will show through as it spins to tell the time. Powered by a PIC18F252 controller, you will be able to modify the custom software to adjust the LED patterns accordingly. Read the wise words of Ian below to get a better understanding on how it works.
“The clock works because the human eye does not see frequencies… Continue reading

Logitech is currently planning on developing and marketing premium instrument controllers for Guitar Hero World Tour, in time for the latest instalment that will make an appearance on the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3 and Wii platforms. Logitech will cater for all the consoles mentioned, and is compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour’s advanced feature set by enabling players to elevate their Guitar Hero jam sessions to full-fledged rock concerts. It would be interesting to see what kind of quality these… Continue reading
Helios Solar-Powered BBQ Grill
August 3, 2008

Things get even hotter with the Helios BBQ Grill, for one reason - it is solar powered. The idea isn’t new, but at least it presents the concept in a much more professional manner. The Helios Grill, in essence, will amplify the sun’s rays just enough so that you’ll be able to feed an army of hungry children. I’d slap a healthy dose of sunblock on myself first before manning the grill though, since I’ll most probably have to stand there, flipping beef patties and… Continue reading
Caveat Emptor - Mac OS X 10.5.5
August 2, 2008

Apple has just released its pre-release build of Mac OS X 10.5.5 to the developer community, but has issued a warning to not use this version with Macs that run on integrated graphics chips. Well, don’t state you have not been warned - doing otherwise will probably open up the heavens and usher in the Apocalypse. I jest, but if Cupertino states don’t do it, I’d suggest you toe the line in order to prevent much more heartache and… Continue reading
Rumor: iPod Touch to get 64GB, GPS?
August 2, 2008
We’re already told you that Apple will refresh its iPod line soon, which isn’t exactly unexpected anyways, but there is mounting speculation that the iPod Touch will get 64GB and possibly a GPS. Both appear plausible, as an increase in storage is almost mandatory and it fits into the semi-conductor economics. If the new iPod Touch uses a close hardware platform as the iPhone 3G, it would logically feature a GPS. And believe me, if there was a decent GPS… Continue reading
